I love the art in this comic, and I love the story, but I think what really carries it is the characters. You see all sorts of people in all sorts of different positions- freedom fighters (terrorists?), gym leaders, trainers, and everything in between. They seem real. I'm mentioning it on this page because David and Lauren seem real- a real couple. Just two young people caught up in something much, much bigger then themselves, young and hopeful, swept up in romance and activism. They seem to live beyond the confines of their panels, and I think that, truly, is the mark of a great storyteller.
