Last (big) infodump :D
Was really excited for this one…

A lot of parts were done on livestream… thank you for joining me, everyone! :D

Sorry about not revealing Pichie's fate :/ There was just too much to be done before that. Next one has the revelation, I promise… But before that, we have another big reveal…

It's kinda moved on from a personal adventure, to a moral issue, to a economic issue, to a POLITICAL one :D
:iconlaquaza: kinda contributed to this one particular element because she kinda suggested the League was a bit like the military in the sense that you join it when you don't know what else to do… but I had different plans!

Perhaps you understand a little bit more about the verse now? ;D I tried to answer "WHY ARE THERE BATTLES IN THE FIRST PLACE?!"

… hm.
ENJOY!!!!

If you need a detailed explanation:

So yeah, the League (ALL leagues) are basically the equivalent to the military. However, there is no separate army, but all trainers are the army. (Compare Switzerland's "everyone gets to take home a gun" system which makes the people the army in case of emergency. It's kinda inspired by that.) Most people, however, only stay active trainers for 1-2 years, similar to military service. After that, they pursue different careers. (Compare White's statement in 14.2: "I can still go to college after".) Pokémon are considered weapons. Therefore, the rule of new trainers not being able to own strong Pokémon are actually restrictions on WEAPONRY. Companion Pokémon, however, are a different kind of Pokémon because they have been made not to be strong and not to be harmful. Therefore, the same restriction does not apply.
The Unova native rule has similar implications - nobody can just come to the region with their native Pokémon and go rampant. The trainer cards are rigidly controlled – each Pokémon, each healing, each official battle, each PokéBOX usage, it's registered.
Pokémon, m'dear fellows, ARE MILITARY TOOLS.

(And yes, I heard about End Run… That appeared way later, though. I have most of the things planned WAY beforehand :P)
